Theme colors in PPT 2007 template

I´m working on an extensive template for a client. The client wants four
alternative color themes built in in the template, based on the graphic
profile of the company. I started to design the template in PPT 2003, and
created the color themes as usual and deleted the other PPT standard color
themes so that only the ones I made where optional in the template.

However, the client changed her mind and now wants the template in 2007
instead. When I transferred the document to PPT 2007, the color themes showed
up under "This presentation“ in the colors-menu but the colors are in
different order. I want a scale that goes from bright to dark colors so that
they will look nice in graphs- but the colors are mixed in the themes and it
doesn't work as I want it to at all...
I tried to create new themes by choose "Create new theme colors" but the new
themes end up under "Custom" and I cant remove the old color themes from
"This presentation".

In other words- in PPT 2007, how do I replace the old wrong themes with new
color themes in the "This presentation"-category so that they are default in
the template?

The way PowerPoint 2003 and 2007 handle themes, templates, masters, layouts,
and theme colors is quite different. I would recommend not to change an
existing old template but to create it from scratch in PowerPoint 2007. This
will give you the best results.

Also, you may need to add the additional color schemes manually in the THMX
file. I think that when you transfer the theme to another computer, only one
custom theme will show up -- unless you manually add them to the THMX file
(using a text or XML editor). You might want to try it with a test template
before you go too far.

Or you should be able to create separate XML files for the color schemes and
put them in the folder for theme color schemes. You'd have to add those
files to that folder on each recipient computer.

I don't think you can remove the built-in color schemes. Not 100% positive
of that, though.

Hi

Just as an aside, does the client want to use multiple themes in one
presentation? I ask as I had a client who wanted 4 different looks but it
turned out it was for different sections in the company so only 1 would be
used in any given ppt. So I made her 4 different templates - I could have
achieved it with one but it was so much simpler for the *end-user* to not
have to worry about clicking the wrong button and spending 3 hours manually
trying to sort an issue they didn't understand (why is the default when
selecting a master to apply to all slides? Why?). A slide from a different
template could always be added with 'keep source formatting' if they wanted
to mix it up a bit.

I'm all about the ease of use for non-expert powerpoint user who will
actually be using the file
