No. I give a link to a non-commercial sit.

I'm not soliciting anything. You are actively advertising your
commercial site.

Funny, I'm older than you, been on Usenet longer that you, and I don't

you put it in a sig or not, it's still an advertisement.

pcButthead's sig:

This is an outright commercial advertisement. I would consider it spam,
but that is just my opinion, and what pcButtheads ISP would consider it
is anyone's guess.

But yes, Leythos is both pathetic and a Net Nanny! ;-)

Ah, come on Kurt, I know you can stand up for what you believe in, it's
being posted by Prodigy.net account access, all large ISP's restrict
posting of advertisements to non biz groups.
But yes, Leythos is both pathetic and a Net Nanny! ;-)

That would be Manny, as I'm neither gay or a woman :)

I'm not psychic, and until someone brings pcButthead's signiture ad to
Prodigy's attention, and they act on it, I really don't know. Prodigy
may be so hard up for customers that they won't act on it unless a
Microsoft rep complains about it. ISP's tend not to act on one
complaint, since the person complaining is as likely to be a kook as a
legit complaint.

I've seen places like AOL and Road Runner and SBC and even Earthlink
yank accounts for it, even seen Yahoo pull hosted pages and accounts for
it. If you send them one article showing it, showing the lack of respect
as posted by the offender, they get one warning and then they yank the
accounts.
Manny sounds like a Gay name to me! ;-)

I don't suppose that "Manny Ramirez" thinks so :)

And how do you know they only give one warning?

My ISP is SBC send a complaint to them as well.

It may be SBC is where you get your IP, but you post through Prodigy.net

I have no intentions (at this time) of complaining to them, but, that
doesn't mean others wont.

The were told by the ISP and related the story back to me about what
happened and all the info. Even had official form letters from their ISP
about it.

I've also seen Yahoo yank people after one complaint where the host a
personal page with sales content - offering a security book by some
wacko - and with one complaint the site was down in less than 1 hour.

There are some ISP's that don't care, but I suspect that the big names
do.

I had a single person complain about me once, and RR sent me a nasty
form letter - called them up, got a tech, sent them the entire thread
(as I keep all threads I post in for at least 1 year) and they wiped my
record of the complaint and said they were putting the complainer in a
ignore list :)

IOW, it is conditional. And an ISP can act arbitrarily, so what exactly
Prodgy or SBC will do in this specific case is unknown as of now.

As I said earlier, I think it is spam, but I don't know what his ISPs
will think of it until they get a complaint, and act on it. I'm not
psychic.

Yep, never suggested that anyone had control over it other than the ISP.
I just stated that I've seen Usenet adverts get peoples accounts yanked
from first-hand reports by people that have had it done.
As I said earlier, I think it is spam, but I don't know what his ISPs

It's fairly easy to determine what an ISP will do - if you read their
TOS it is often very clear as to their position.
