The procedure entry point SHRegGetValueW could not be located in the dynamic
library SHLWAPI.dll.

Now, before someone tells me to uninstall 843707 (Or whatever the hotfix was
ending in 707...)
I already have.

I was installing SP2... and it told me to install updates first (thus
'cleanly' clearing the SP2 installation.) I assumed a restart wasn't
necessary, and installed the updates first... my mistake.

Installed SP2... and it worked fine and dandy for a restart or so. Then,
randomly, SP2 no longer showed up... and certain (most) applications now tell
me
"The procedure entry point SHRegGetValueW could not be located in the
dynamic library SHLWAPI.dll."
So, I looked it up... and the fix was to uninstall one of the hotfixes,
reboot, uninstall SP2, reboot, then reinstall SP2, reboot, then reinstall the
hotfix.

I uninstalled the hotfix, then went to uninstall SP2... and it wasn't there.

Winver reads:
"Microsoft (r) Windows
Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp2.050301-1526: Service Pack 1)"

w00t. So it says SP2 in the build prefix, but lists SP1... so I'm kind've
in a frankenstein state.

So, couldn't uninstall SP2.. so I went to reinstall.
It then told me my copy wasn't activated... (though I'm not getting any
'activate now' messages, I'd already activated it), and, even worse, I CAN'T
activate it because the activation wizard is affected by this bug.

"Msoobe.exe -entry point not found
The procedure... and you've read the rest 4 times now."

So, I can't activate to download SP2.
I can't uninstall SP2, because it isn't under add/remove.
also $ntuninstallspunist (or something of that sort, hidden folder in
windows directory) is also missing.. so that doesn't quite work either.

I'm not sure where to go from here, as it seems to me like I'm screwed.
^_^

I don't have my original windows XP Pro SP1 CD, but I do have the CD-Key.

I can always borrow a friends CD if I need to go into the recovery console,
but I really don't see that helping much =/

I could probably get an SP2 disk if necessary, and just use my CD Key and
'upgrade' (if you'd call SP2 that...)
Meh.

Thanks for the help in advance.
