The people microsoft never counted...

"20 million copies of vista..."
"vista is selling more than xp..."

baloney.... guys this is just hype to make people think vista is selling,
so more people can be persuaded to buy vista..
Its a well known strategy.. that if you start people doing something, them
more will follow.
But should this be based on lies? I believe that the truth is being
distorted very much.
And then you have people in here repeating this information like parrots.
Yeah. bird brains.

Before you cry out TROLL ALERT, read the following:

I am not a Microsoft hater ... but something is happening with MS with
vista...
I would suggest them to re-look their strategies, and perhaps fire some
people and get
the correct people to forward windows into the future.

I also am NOT a vista hater.... I actually advise people to get vista if
they are getting high end new computers.

I am NOT a troll, since I will be focusing on helping the windows vista
community in many ways,
as I have done before for YEARS in the XP newsgroups. Before vista I never
complained. But vista is different.

For those of you who may have killfiled me, all I have to say is that its
not wise
close your ears to different opinions. What comes to mind is the image of
the 3 monkeys:

http://ok1tzd.goo.cz/Hear No Evil, See No Evil, Speak No Evil1.jpg

For some reason the theme monkeys+vista always comes up.. but now back to my
main subject

1) First of all there is a law suite this very moment. 10.000 People are
asking for 5 million because MS called vista capable some very low end
machines. They count THOSE machines as vista sales.
http://www.neowin.net/index.php?act=view&id=39235

2) They do not event take into account that computer sales have increased
by 100 percent because MORE people are just using computers...
So comparing sales of 2001 XP and 2007 vista has its problems.

Also MS did not count:

3) all the people that take vista back and ask for XP,
or

4) People who bought computers with vista upgrade coupons but never ever
wanted to upgrade to vista,
and kept XP (yes they counted these too as vista sales)

5) those who are very unhappy with vista and cant do anything about it
because their pc came with vista, or they have installed it already and are
horrified...

6) the people who have got vista,
but formatted it and installed linux or XP
see video

7) Or the people that have Vista, leave it on, but dual boot with XP or
linux and boot to vista only to laugh at Microsoft's horrible os.

8) Or those who use vmware or virtual pc just to get some apps running....
actually spending more time on the virtual pc than on vista itself!

Where is your data to support your claim? You believe the truth is being
distored? What makes you believe that? Where is your research?

Sounds like blowing smoke to me

I can't speak for other users of this newsgroup so I'll speak for me.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion and should be free to express it in
any appropriate forum. I just don't think posting opinions in a help group
is appropriate. People come to this newsgroup to find answers to specific
problems and many people generously volunteer their time to try to offer
solutions. Having to sort through opinions or any irrelevant commentary
while looking for help or trying to provide it is a disservice to all.

Most of his posts are telling people to migrate to Ubuntu or Linux solutions
because he hates Vista. I know, he will tell you otherwise, but if he didn't
hate Vista, he wouldn't try to get people to move to the Ubuntu platform
when they have a minor problem (or major for that matter)

If people paid good money for a nice PC and the Vista OS, they at least want
to try to make it work and iron out the bugs instead of throwing it all away
and start the painful learning curve of Ubuntu. Jeeze

JimR is correct, however options can be taken as "advice' which is also a
purpose of the Newsgroups. Having said that - I have been a Microsoft
"user" since being a Beta tester of Windows 95 (16 floppies) some years ago.
I was somewhat surprised at reading that sales of Vista were "huge" and
outpacing XP introduction. Having been, and still am, a member of several
clubs (Amateur radio and Computer) at which I present seminars- at the
introduction of XP a majority of club members purchased upgrade versions
of XP.

Currently members are NOT upgrading to Vista (verified by survey) - and
purchase of computers with Vista as replacements are minimal.

BTW - at the time of this post - there were 55 Vista general posts and 50 XP
general posts to the appropriate newsgroups.

We know jim kirk/kirk jim/just jim/just kirk that according to you, everyone
at MS is a liar. They are all trying to "trick us". How many times are you
going to post the same agenda?

You do realize that people would be more apt to listen to your OPINION if
you actually backed up your claims with facts.

Funny comment coming from the cut and paste king you are.

I was thinking the same thing about you. Trouble is, you wouldn't know
a fact from the typical BS opinions you spout if a fact jumped up and
took a big bite out of your dumb ass.

WHATT???this is totally incorrect! I did not tell people to migrate to
linux!
Linux is worse that Vista! (I mean about the problems with driver
availability.. yeah I know its not their fault)...

I say that XP is the Best OS microsoft every made!

I love Vista, its not perfect but it does what I wantit to. I think the
areas where MS dropped the ball are marketing and the whole Express Upgrade
program (never got my copy, bought a copy). The whole "WOW" campaign was
unispiring and didn't really reach most people, whoever did the marketing
should be thrown out of the business. I did not see any commercials, few
print ads, or even media spots, on the other hand I did see plenty of those
god awful Apple ads.

I also ordered the Express Upgrade disk, I never recieved the disk and no
one can tell when or even IF I'll get the OS. I've called Best Buy, Gateway,
Microsoft, and Moduslink and they all point the finger at someone else (the
problem is with moduslink). I got tired of waiting for the disk so I
purchased my own copy at Best Buy, I suppose If I get the OEM disk I'll sell
it or the retail version on E-Bay. Seems to me that Moduslink was ill
equipped to handle such a large account, but I digress.
I wouldn't have cared if the disk arrived in December just give me a
freaking ship date. The agreement was that I'd recieve my copy 4-6 weeks
after my paperwork was submitted that was 20 weeks ago, no disk and no ship
date.

When i heard MS was releasing a new operating system, i decided to wait on
replacing my old computer running XP until the Vista came out. So on the day
Vista was on sale at stores and went and got the new computer. Besides the
normal adjusting, I am VERY happy with Vista.

I'll say it again. I AM VERY HAPPY WITH VISTA.

I can understand peoples' frustration with something new but the extreme
hate i see on this board is going overboard. Just because Vista is new and
there are some issues doesnt mean people should be scared into not buying it.

So without debating your every point, I want to say that i would recommend
people wait 6-9 months before installing Vista on their current computers but
i see no reason to wait on buying a new computer with Vista installed.

And although I dont consider myself a 'computer geek', i'm also not running
the new computer right out of the box. I added a graphics card to support my
3 monitors, added an additional hard drive and dvd drive, installed a new
webcam and am using my old scanner and printer with no problems.

I'm sorry not everyone is having an experience as pleasant as mine, but that
doesnt make Vista 'trash' and MS 'evil'.

I'm going to put on my armor now for the haters remarks. It's sad that that
it's necessary but i know how the posters on these boards are.
