The New TweakUI

F

FulanoDeTal

I uninstalled the current version like the website says to do. Now
when I try to install the new version, it says "The procedure entry
point GetDllDirectoryW could not be located in Kernel32.dll". What's
the deal? TIA.

Patricko,

thanks for the info ... question? where do I get the instructions for
installation? If I remember right I have to delete the previous version?
correct? also of the two below (32bit and 64 bit) which should I run on
Windows XP Home Edition?

I am currently running tweakui 2.00.1.0 . What is the current version
number and of the two sites below (xp Home Edition) which should I use?

thanks,

doug

You should "uninstall" the previous version using add/remove, not delete it.
Use the 32 bit version.

The latest is 2.10.0.0.
If you go tot he powertoys page, they no longer talk about 32 and 64 bit
(yippee!) they talk about 'for Itanium' for the 64 bit version. You
don't have an Itanium, so download the other one.

You do not have SP1 for XP, and the new version will not install unless
you do. If you still have the download from the previous version,
install that again. If you do not have it around, I have a version up
as a temporary measure at
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/alistair.nichol/TweakUI_XP201.exe

Or, of course, install SP1

You're good. I found a reference last night to the fact that SP1
incorporated the new "GetDllDirectory" thing. I'm leary of SP1, so
I'll take advantage of your offer of the download. When I click on
the URL you give above, it says it's not a valid page. Could you
confirm whether there's a typo? Thanx.

Cancel.... cancel. I found it on another one of your posts, and it
worked. Thanx again.

Hi Doug,

If you are running SP1, download the new version. If not stick with what
you have.

Both versions can be downloaded from here on line 246:

TweakUI for XP - which came out over a year ago, and there is now a new
version for XP SP1, which will not install on original version XP.

if you have installed XP SP1 - TweakUI 2.10
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

If you have not installed SP!, the earlier version 2.0 can be found at
http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe

Once installed you will find it in Start - All Programs - Powertoys for
Windows XP
