Could anyone help me out with this? I am building a database for my
office but I would like to make sure that my name is found on it
somewhere......and can't be changed. I've seen it in the past where
people worked hard on a database or form and then someone else takes
their work and claims it as their own. I don't want it to be visible to
everyone, just so that it is known who did this originally. I'm not
being egotistical (I will put a codename), just want to protect my
work.
Thank you,
Kris

Deliver only MDE files for the front end. Other than that, I don't know of
any way to accomplish this. There is nothing you can put in a database that
can't be changed. Even making it hidden will not work if a competent
developer get ahold of it.
Even the MDE solution is breakable if you have a decompiler.

I agree with Klatuu in that there's not a lot that can't be changed. It may
be a daft idea (thinking about it - it probably is) but one idea would be to
simply name the "form" itself (ie. JohnsForm) . This isn't that the
"caption" so no one would see this unless they really looked but it would be
quite hard to change it if there are codes associated with the form - then
all the codes would need altering as well – there again (agreeing with Klatuu
again) it would be quite simple for anyone with any knowledge of Access to
get round this. Oh well it’s just an idea. Good luck.

If you have any of the find and replace utilities available for Access, it
would take only minutes to change a form's name and everything that
references it.

The only thing you can do if someone steals your code is go to his house and
beat the snot out of him :)

Like I said - I agree with you when you say it's not really possible. Mind
you going to someone's house and ......
Maybe the best idea would be to simply tell EVERYONE - “hey look what I
made†before anyone else has the chance to pinch your stuff

Well, you are in England where only criminals are allowed to protect
themselves.
This is Texas. I wouldn't go to the house, I'd meet him on main street in
front of the saloon :)
