The Good, the Bad, and the UGLY of RC-1

This story is a little long, but you might enjoy reading.

I been playing with PC's since the mid 70's starting with a Radio shack
Model 3 and 4, back when you had to make your own programs in DOS!

Using Vista beta II, I had no problems at all (Period), doing a clean
install.

At this time I am testing RC-1 on a Dell 8400, , HP M7470N. I also have a
Dell 8300 and a HP A566n.

When I received RC-1, I followed the instruction letter to the T. I blew off
Vista beta 2, reinstalled XP media center. I had all programs I use
installed and working, home network, and work network up and running. All
printers/scanners working just fine.

Doing a upgrade install of RC-1. After a 2 hour + installation, the computer
finally came up. I notice this computer was running slow. I click on a
icon, took forever for the program to open up. After two days of playing
with it, I decided to blow it all off, and do a clean install of RC-1.

Boy am I glad I did. This computer M7470N is screaming. Click on a icon, the
program, bang it's there, ready to use. The only problem I have is with the
printer/scanner. The printer is a Canon MP500. The printer works great,
except the scanner. I get a error to install the scanner drivers. Same error
using the Vista drivers! I wrote tech support @ cannon, as of this date, no
reply.

The Good

1. This OS is very stable.

2. The new safety features are nice for new computer users.

3. Setting up home networking, and connecting to my work network, was
simple.

The Bad

1. Nothing really.

2. The errors I get are in IE-7 ,and Office 2007 beta.

3. I had to go in and make a Administrator account to have full access
(Why MS?)

4. Making changes to defaults, are hidden, but found and changed after
a intensive looking.

The Ugly

1. The new design is nice, nothing ugly about it.

2. When the final release comes out, I get to blow it all off and start
clean again

3. R.O.F.L. which means ( ROLLING ON FLOOR LAUGHING )

Yes I remember those classic Radio Shack PC days. But to some more important
points:

1. Did you install the technical refresh for Office 2007 Beta 2. You really
need that update in Vista.

2. I saw some Canon MP500 drivers in RC2, but I don't know if that was just
for the printer part of the device only or for everything.

3. A lot of the administrator restrictions were trimmed down in the RC2

4. I can sure some some programming help to see if I can get my old scanner
dinosaur HP SJ 5200C working somehow.

regards
Robert
