If you order Vista Beta 2 will you automatically recieve RC 1 dvd by post, as
I am thinking of skipping installing the Beta copy.
Thanks

Most of the problems installing Vista involve downloaded images and how they
are burned to dvd. Obviously dvd's by mail would have no such problem. If
you are not planning to do any testing and bug reporting after installation
then I would skip RC1 as well and just wait for the release.

I disagree. Most of the problems installing Vista involve chair-to-mouse
incompatibility errors.

My recommendation would be the upgrade advisor being the first step in
SETUP.

True dat! Once you are at the splash screen it is much to late to replace
the user...

MY idea would be to have tio RUN it prior to running Setup.

Since you are at the desktop (the option does not appear when you boot the
dvd), you are running it before Setup. If you can see the option you aren't
running Setup yet, just looking at its splash screen. You can choose to run
the Advisor or read the read.me file, or you can choose to run Setup with
'Install Now.' Why is this so hard to understand?

I hope this doesnt sound stupid, myself being a Vista Beta 2 tester will
Microsoft send us one free or are we paying for it.Doesnt really matter.I
will buy it if so.
That is the RC 1 DVD.I payed for the Vista Beta 2 and it installed with no
problems.Really would rather go that way.

astro,
If you signed up for the Beta 2 DVD and bought and paid for it, you will
automatically receive the RC1 DVD.
No additional charge since you already paid for it in the Beta 2 sign up.

Anyone have any idea when Microsoft is sending out these DVD's?.

As I've said before I've had the RC-1 iso since August 30th but due to the
fact I have no working DVD burner I can't use it. Also after being suggested
from here I've almost tried every single freeware, shareware, demo, etc
"virtual dvd drive" or "emulator" out there. I either get one of two
problems. The program downloads and installs fine but says the iso is not a
reconized file or two the program wont install since Windows 6.0 (Vista) is
not supported.
