When will this RC 1 stop working?

I'm still running Vista RC 1 Build 5600. When will this Beta copy expire.
(I expected it to have stopped working by now.)

Thanks

Thanks. "Winver" was what I was looking for. And B.Y. was correct. It
expires on 5/31 @ 7pm.

Thanks again.

The beta will expire on May 31, 2007.

The Vista Team has just posted information that you need to see.

Windows Vista Team Blog : Windows Vista Beta 2, RC1 and RC2 set to expire:
http://windowsvistablog.com/blogs/w...s-vista-beta-2-rc1-and-rc2-set-to-expire.aspx

The blog says that Vista Beta/RC participants can purchase and install the
Upgrade version of Vista. While you may be physically able to insert the
Vista Upgrade DVD and using either the 'clean install' or 'upgrade in place'
method to install the Upgrade version, this does not mean you are legally
able to do so. The Vista EULA can be found here for the Home Basic, Premium
and Ultimate features versions:
http://download.microsoft.com/docum...lish_d16c019b-fa71-4fc9-a51d-a0621bddb153.pdf

and here for the Business version:
http://download.microsoft.com/docum...lish_e59f6893-6b14-4262-964c-993ed16d138a.pdf

It says that you must first be licensed for the product that is eligible for
the upgrade. So the question is can you point me to a Microsoft webpage
that shows that the Beta/RC versions of Vista are eligible products? That
would be a generous offer on Microsoft's part, if true.

Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer and my interpretation of the Vista EULA may
not be correct. Please read it for yourself for the complete wording.

You proly gonna have to use your beta key for validation when using the
upgrade version.
If MS themselves state it's ok then it must be ok, right?

Did you miss the link on the blog article that points to the Microsoft
website for this announcement?

Windows Vista: Beta 2, RC1, and RC2 Set to Expire:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/preview.mspx

Of course you must have a legal copy. Everyone who participated in the CPP
or the beta have a legal copy. That website states the following.

Windows Vista: Beta 2, RC1, and RC2 Set to Expire
On May 31, 2007, pre-release versions of Windows Vista will expire. If you
are running a pre-release version of Windows Vista (Beta 2, RC1, or RC2) you
will begin to receive notifications about the upcoming expiration on May 18,
2007. To avoid work disruption and the loss of data, it is strongly
recommended that PC users running any of these pre-release versions of
Windows Vista migrate their PCs to the final version of Windows Vista prior
to May 31.
To install the final version of Windows Vista on any of these pre-release
versions of Windows Vista, you may purchase the desired Windows Vista
Upgrade. The Windows Vista Upgrade must be the same language version as the
pre-release version you are replacing.

This has nothing to do with the EULA, it is a decision that Microsoft made
to allow these systems to be activated with an upgrade.

Ahh yes! I did miss that. That looks official enough for me. My issue
was with the reference to a blog (no offense to Nick White). I just missed
the 'for more information' part that made it official.

Thanks Ronnie for pointing out the link and it is a generous offer.

Now I have to update my Vista Confusion article *again*. At least it is for
more good news. :) This also causes me to have to rethink my purchase of
Vista.
