the "general" tab is gone?

I was surfing the internet the other day and was suddenly
re-routed through about two dozen web sights through pop
up screens. When it was all done my home page had been
changed and when I went into the "tools--internet options-
"section the General tab was gone. The first tab on the
left is now Security.
Any way to change that back?

There is some new spyware that disables the General tab. I don't know if
it resets the fix or not, but Adaware or Spybot anti-spyware scanners
should find and remove the offending program.
