The 'Effects' button isn't working..?

When I right-click the desktop and chooses the 'Appearance' tab and clicks
the "Effects" button nothing happens... Does anyone know how I can change the
settings I was supposed to be able to change by clicking that button?

(My grammar isn't flawless, I know - I'm danish )

Did you install DESKTOP ARCHITECT at any point?
