Start Menu Problems

When clicking on the Start button and selecting All Programs, nothing
happens. No list of programs appears. Is there a registry setting that
needs to be set/reset?

Also on this machine, right-clicking on the Start button has no effect. Is
there a way to enable this menu as well?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Bill:

Let's try this: Go to My Computer > Local Disk (C:) > Documents and
Settings > double-click on the folder with your user account name. Do
you see a folder named Start Menu?

If you don't see a folder named Start Menu it was deleted by you,
someone who has access to your computer, or a virus or some other
malicious software.

Leonard - Yes, there are a few folders and a couple of programs in there.
These show up the left side of the Start Menu. But nothing happen when you
click on the All Programs entry. I hope I'm explaining this clearly enough.

Do you not see the shortcuts to the programs that formerly appeared when
you clicked on All Programs? If not, you or someone/something else
removed them. If you do see them, but they don't appear when you click
on Start > All Programs then you or someone/something has been fiddling
with your registry. If you have a recent restore point from before this
problem occurred, try going back to that restore point.

Okay. One final point. Programs have been installed on this computer very
recently (yesterday). Even these newly installed programs do show up. So
something is either disabling the All Programs selection or even new programs
are not being added to the Start Menu.

Hey, this looks like exactly what we need. I will track down an
administrator and give it a try. Thanks!!!

Thanks you for all your help. Unforunately, this did not solve the problem.
All the correct settings appear to be in the registry.
