the date windows xp was installed

perhaps someone can help me with finding out when windows
was installed on a computer ..by that i mean the date it
was installed .and where to go and find it .keep it
simple since i am not a power user please ...

Here's my idea -
Right click on My Computer and then click on "Explore" -
Windows Explorer view of My Computer opens -
On the left hand side, expand the + signs and navigate to -
C:\WINDOWS\repair
Right click on the repair folder and then click on "Properties" -
Note the date of the repair folder -
This should be the date that Windows XP was installed -

When Windows XP is installed, it creates a backup copy of
that original registry and keeps it in C:\WINDOWS\repair -

Note: if a repair install of XP had been performed subsequent to
the original installation, then that C:\WINDOWS\repair folder
would have been overwritten and would show the date of the
Repair Install.

HTH - quite likely some one else may have a better answer

Look for the wpa.bak file in your system32 folder - it may be hidden, that
should give you the date of installation.
