The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck.

I would be grateful if someone could explain to me what the following
message means. It is the first time this has happened to me on XP Pro,
which I have been running trouble free, same installation, for the last 2
years.

"The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x1000007f
(0x00000008, 0x80042000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)."

Many thanks for this - plenty for me to think about. I am leaning toward
"Kernel stack overflows are almost always caused by faulty kernel-mode
drivers" (from your first URL) as I believe I have several security
programs that could be either together or on their own responsible for this
type of fault. I will keep an eye out and investigate further should a
repetition occur.
