The browser freezes on pop ups

I was having an issue with my internet explorer browser on
my computer, whenever I would open the browser it would
come up with an error and just say send report to
microsoft and then not open. Well, i finally got adaware
and deleted spyware off my computer, and that let me open
the browser, but now whenever i have something that is a
pop up box or tries to open a new window, it just freezes
up. I use this computer for work and a lot of the sites I
go to pop up different boxes, so this doesn't really work
out to well. I downloaded the latest version of 6.0 and
also the service pack, but neither of these worked. Do you
have any suggestions? I am running 98 2nd edition by the
way.

I'm running IE 6 SP1 on a Windows XP system and ran into the same problem.
In fact, I ran into the problem on Windows Update. I tried clicking one of
the Read Me links and saw the window popup, then it froze. Looking at the
link, it was a script like this:

javascriptarent.fnDisplayDetails('http://support.microsoft.com/?id=833407'
);

I've noticed that the error occurs on every other page that uses a script to
create a popup. The error occurred on my machine after I uninstalled the
Source Code Vault client. I didn't need it after I completed a project, so
I removed it from the system. I know it was Source Code Vault because
popups had worked fine before I uninstalled it and nothing else has changed
since then. Reinstalling the Source Code Vault client didn't help. I'm
hoping that a DLL was overwritten--hopefully one that is well known and easy
to replace.

I have sort of the same problem, i run windows 98 and
whenever i click on a link that requires a new window it
freezes. I don't get an error, ie just keeps trying to
load it but the window is blank. i really need help, its
getting annoying.
