Testing Account Settings

I have an email account that I'm trying to set up in Outlook 2003. I've
entered all of the applicable information, but when I click on test account
settings, everything shows as completed except for the sending of the test
email. Then it shows the following error message:

Send test e-mail message: The specified server was found, but there was no
response from the server. Please verify that the port and SSL information is
correct. To access these settings, close this dialog then click on More
Settings and click on the Advanced tab.

Does anyone know what the correct incoming and outgoing port numbers should
be? Mine are set at 110 (incoming) and 25 (outgoing).

Hi, Melissa

Another step you can try is to update your antivirus program as that solved
the same issue i was having with one of my clients.
Hope it helps
Good luck!

The default settings are -incoming (POP3): 110 and outgoing (SMTP): 25. Ask
your ISP if outgoing server requires authentication - if so check item and
check "same settings as incoming"

i just have the same problem.

my probleme was:
that i have 3 different email account.
and myinternet provider reject all smtp (email out) exept there smtp
outgoing server.

so the only solution is to send via this email went i connect with them.
you can select witch acount you want to use to send your email in outlook.
via acount buttom or in the acount setting / more setting/ géneral tab/
reply email.

if you just have one account and it's dosn't work look to secure you
outgoing port and change the number...but you need to look with your internet
or email provider what is the setting.

kip in mind that some internet provider refuse some account ex yahoo ..
and also that some email account like yahoo ask so money for you to be able
to send via there server..
so you need to become a member of yahoo if you want to have this option..
.....

tell me if it's help you.
