Currently running W2K Server in a remote location on the Direcway 4000
satellite system. The internet is routed through Sygate Office Network. I
can terminal service into the server and perform all functions etc without a
problem.
When I use the DW6000 which is a stand alone satellite modem (next
generation) and a US Robotics broadband router, I have problems.
When I establish the TS connection remotely, the System process runs wild
and takes 99% of the cpu time effectively hanging my server. The only way
to recover is to hard boot the server. Clients on the internal LAN can run
TS sessions without any problems until I establish the remote session.
I have tried 2 different broadband routers, Linksys and the US Robotics with
no change. I have connected the server directly to the 6000 modem and the
same result, System takes 99% of the cpu and it's game over.
The DW6000 has a public static IP address and gives another public Static IP
address to the router or server (depending which is tied to the modem). The
DW4000 has a single public IP address which is then routed by the Sygate.
Any thoughts or suggestions or solutions would be greatly appreciated.
