Terminal Service Licensing

A

Allison

I installed Terminal Service Licensing service on both of my Domain
Controllers. Can anyone direct me or give me advice on how to have the
licenses on both DCs. I want to make sure everyone can still connect if one
DC fails.

Thanks

Install the licensing service on both servers but the licenses on one
server. This will allow temp licenses to be issued to any new clients if
they connect when your primary license server is offline. Since clients
that already have licenses attempt to renew them 7 days prior to expiration
this means you have a week window for clients that already have licenses.

Hope this helps,

Nope. TS does not need to be installed for the licensing server to work.
In fact, I'd probably recommend not having TS on a DC unless it was strictly
for remote admin use.

Hope this helps,

One last thought. I've been assuming that you're talking about Win 2K TS.
If it is Win 2K3 then everything remains the same except that the license
server is not required to be installed on a DC.

Cheers,
