terminal services licensing

I have install terminal ser ioces licensing in
administrator mode. In this configuration, I can connect
as a terminal services client. We now have the need for
employees to connect via terminal services. Once
application mode has been activated the connectino is
dropped immediately upon connection. I know this will
require me to install and activate terminal services
licensing server. When i launch the terminal services
licensing application it appears it is looking to the
primary domain controller for a list of names of licensing
servers. i do not have a pdc on the network. Do i need
to activate a pdc on my network for discovery of the
terminal services licensing server? all terminal services
applications exist on the same box.

If your TS is a standalone server or in a workgroup, you can
install the Licensing service on the TS itself. Go to Control
Panel - Add/Remove programs - Add Windows Component - Terminal
services - LIcensing server.

After you have installed and activated the LS, the Licensing
application should find the LS. If it doesn't, you might have to
hardcode the address of the LS into the registry of the TS (even
if there are running on the same machine).

i have installed ls on same server. i continue to
get "windows cannot find license server. i have made the
registry edit as well as added the computer ip and name to
the local host file. i also tried to establish ls on
nother server we have with the same problem the only
difference is it is server 2003 verses 2000. i still feal
it is a configuration error or i am missing something.
pretty particular if happening on two machine identical
problem. you mention activating the ls is that afteror
before the initial ls server discovery process?

Your license server needs to be hosted on a Windows 2000
server, not a Windows 2003 server.

Have you tried to reboot your server after you installed
the regsitry entry for hardcoding the name of the license
server into the registry of the terminal server?
