Terminal Server Printing via the internet

I am new to configuring terminal server, so i am not 100% sure what is
meant by installing the drivers on the server. Do you mean create a
print que in printers and add new printer or is there another way to
complete this operation. I have setup terminal server using high
encryption, XP pro clients can connect without a problem using remote
desktop client, but the printing doesn't work. Is there a way to find
out if the printer was created at logon? Any help would be
appreciated.

Chris,

One of the biggest problems with TS printing is driver
mismatches. Lets assume the following for example. You are
running a windows 2000 TS and connecting from a 2000/XP
client and you are using a HP Laserjet 4000. Download the
Latest LJ4000 PCL driver for Windows 2000. Don't download
the all inclusive 98/ME/2K/XP drivers for other printer
models.

Extract the drivers as usual to a folderon the client, add
the printer normally, select local printer, select port,
and have disk. Browse to extracted folder and select the
model printer and finish installing. Do exactly the same
on the terminal server.

Once the printer has been created on the 2000 TS, just
delete it. The driver will be properly installed.

To see if a printer is autocreated properly, open the
printers folder on the server and have the user log in. It
should appear preceded by the client workstations name.

Give that a try and adapt these steps to your environment.

Sean, thanks for the information. I have tried your
suggestions but still have issues. The terminal server is
not automatically creating the redirect printers. I have
install the printer locally and installed a copy of the
same driver to the server. I installed the printer
drivers on the server by logging in remotely using an
administative TS account. Once installed, I deleted the
printer que on the server that was created. When I logged
back in, no printer que was created for the ts client. I
can setup a temporary printer by installing the printer
and setting the port to one of the TS ports created during
logon. The problem i am having is the port assignment may
need to be changed. Both client pc are windows 2000 with
a windows 2000 server. If you can think of anything else,
i would appreciate the help.

Thanks,
Chris
