Terminal Server Freezing

L

Lance W. Grimes

All:

I have a remote location that connects to my main office via terminal
services to run an accounting application. Both locations are behind cisco
firewalls, the remote location has a 512k DSL, the main just got an upgrade
from a 256k DSL to 1.5X768 cable.

Since the upgrade, remote users are complaining that the terminal server is
freezing and kicking them out... I do not see corresponding errors in the
event logs.

This seems to happen when they are idle... It has yet to happen while they
were active in the application.

I don't know where to start... Any help would be appreciated.

TIA,
Lance

I made the suggested registry changes, and to no avail... The problem
continues...
The strange thing is... There is one workstation (out of 4) that doesnt
seem to be affected...
Could this be a local setting somewhere? Please help... I have very angry
users.

Since the problem started with the network upgrade, I'd contact the
ISP and ask them to monitor the connection. Also enable logging in
your firewall and routers for dropped connections, check if there
is an idle time setting configured there, and check if you have the
latest firmware.

Vera:
I enabled the clock in the system tray, and disabled screen savers for the
TS users. This seemed to have stabilized the connection. I still see users
getting kicked after 15+ minutes of being idle, but its better than before.

I did update NIC drivers as well.

We enabled logging on the router, and saw no connection issues.

Thanks for your help.
