Terminal Server Client Reboots server

P

Peter Dent

This morning, an 8 way Windows 2000 Server which we
connect to using the RDP/TSC client started to reboot for
no reason.

We discovered that it is when an RDP/TSC attempts to
connect that the server just bounced. No warnings no
messages, no errors in the event log.

We have re service packed and installed all MS updates but
it continues to do the same thing.

Terminal Server is in admin mode only.

Has anyone got any ideas???
Thanks

To get more information, I would configure the server to *not*
automatically reboot when a critical STOP error occurs (in Control
Panel - System). Next time it crashes, it will show you a Blue
Screen of Death. Write down the STOP error code, the parameters,
and possibly the name of the driver causing the STOP error.

Either post this information here, or check the troubleshooting
tools for your particular STOP error in the
MSDN Bug Check Codes pages at
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-
us/ddtools/hh/ddtools/bcintro_3dkj.asp

If the system still rebots without halting with a STOP error,
after you have configured it to halt, then it is most likely
caused by a hardware problem. Run all the diagnostics that came
with your system, especially memory and CPU tests.
