Terminal Server and Brothers Multi Function printers

I have a client with Win98SE who just bought a Brothers MFC3240c printer
which fails to work as a client printer when TS session established to
Windows 2000. Her connection, the RDP 5.0, shows 'local printer' and the
event log on the server shows a failed attempt.

My problem is adding driver to Windows 2000 server. I have found and
followed several great documents on how to do this but fail at the 'install
drivers on the server' part.

I extract the setup program from Brothers to a folder but I can't seem to
find the drivers for Win98. I can alter NTprinter.inf and add a line for the
mfc3240c by using other entries as a template but I still can't seem to add
drivers from the original Brothers source. Brothers says Not Supported for
TS.

Has anyone mastered Brother printers and Terminal Server?

Thanks.

I would strongly suspect that Brother is correct - if they say their drivers
and devices don't support Terminal Services there is probably a reason that
they do so. Most MFCs rely on host-based processing, the printer is only a
dumb output device. As such you probably won't be able to make them work as
you wish to.

I found Brother MFCs a pain in the neck at the best of times.
When it comes to printing in a terminal server session, Richard's
note says it all: Multifunction printers are generally not supported.
AFAIR there are some articles about this in the MS KB - look
for "Remote Desktop" and "printers".

However . . . One of my suppliers claims that a new print
server will overcome this problem. I shall test it as soon
as I get my sample. If you're interested, drop me a note
one week from now and I'll tell you what I found.
