Dave

Good evening,

Yes I know what group this is.

Does anyone know the folder location Vista stores embeded ActiveX/.wmv
files from a webpage?

Thanks,
D

You may know what group this is, but did you consider asking this in one of
the many Vista newsgroups?

Dave,What difference does it make where you post a question.
At times I tend to remember in the 60's during the CB radio craze where self
appointed monitors would chastise a individual that a certain channel was
reserved for a particular use and the individual should go somewhere else.
I respect knowledgeable individuals for their replies and help, if you don't
know the answer , don't reply.

What difference does it make?

Go to your eye/ear/nose and throat doctor and have them perform your open
heart surgery.
Go to your local drugstore and have the pharmacist work on your car.
Go to your local grocery store and have them install your new kitchen
appliances in your home.
Ask advice on dieting/food addictions from your local alcoholics anonymous
group.
When your plumber comes to fix a problem in your home, go ahead and have
them install your new lights in the living room.

While it is true that many people can and do multi-task, it is better to go
to a true expert in the field you are needing assistance with than depend on
someone who does the job 'on the side'. Many of the 'experts' in the
Windows XP groups *may* be able to help with Vista questions and many of the
'experts' in the Vista group *may* be able to help with Windows XP issues.
However - the point of having specialized newsgroups is to help organize
those who have special/expert knowledge into certain areas - making it
simpler to ask and receive the right help the first time.

I think it is a valid response to a question in a newsgroup not centered
around the topic of the question to visit another newsgroup for better hep.
One can go ahead and provide whatever assistance they can - if they can -
however; if the person wants the best help at the fastest rate - they really
should visit the experts around their topic.

Thank You

You are welcome.

The CB comparison is not relevant.
Other than channel 9, there was nothing controlling the other CB channels.
Just because someone or group claimed a channel is not relevant or binding
to others.

However in the case of these Microsoft newsgroups, there over 2000 and each
has a specific purpose.
There are at least 2 advantages to posting in the proper group:
1. You will probably get a quicker and better answer since the experts for
a particular subject hang out in that newsgroup.
2. There will be less noise since there will be fewer off topic posts where
the possibility of someone knowing the answer is less.
There are many more.

There could be near total chaos in the 2000 newsgroups if people regularly
posted where ever they happened to be rather than the appropriate newsgroup.
So it can make a great deal of difference.

Then why are you asking in the wrong group? Although it's possible that
somebody may be able to help you here, your chances of getting the answer
you need would be much greater if you would ask in an appropriate newsgroup.

Appreciate your comment. Thank You.
