Missing ? Folders

J

John WILD

Hi
When I first loaded XP and viewed the file structure useing Widows Explorer
there was a series of folders under "local settings" such as "History",
"Today" "Last Week" etc etc and also "Temporary Internet Files". These
folders contained many filenames which reflected what internet
files/webpages I had used, downloaded etc etc. While many of these folders
still appear in Windows Explorer all the filenames/info in them have
disappeared. I theorise that subsequent XP updates have caused these files
to become hidden as I know at least some of them are still there because
when I hit the history button of Internet Explorer a list of all the
files/web pages I have recently examined appear in a list. This information
was exactly what was in the folders outlined above.
Can someone let me know what is going on and perhaps let me know how I can
see what is in these folders ( especially the "Temporary Internet Files"
folder.

Thanking you in advance
John W.

there is a time limit
that can be set for
the number of days
worth of browsing
history you want to
retain.

you can find this tweak
inside your internet options
control panel.

also, there are some
registry cleaners, disk
cleaners, etc, that will
also remove these files,
unless you disable the
option.
