I would like to limit the size of the "Temporary Internet
Files" folder for all my users. Because the computer has
an "unusually large" 80 gig hdd, the windows default allows
something like 1.7 gigs per user, which is ridiculously high.

In order to speed up processes like antivirus checks and
file location, I would like to limit this to 20 MB, only
there doesn't seem to be a way to do so for all users as an
administrative setting. Am I mistaken?

TIA,
Brandon

Greetings:

1) To keep the Temporary Internet Files folder clean.
Control Panel\Internet Options\Advanced Options\check on;
Empty Temporary Internet Files Folder when Explorer Closes.
(at bottom of window)

2) To limit the capacity of the Temporary Internet Files Folder:
Internet Options\General\Temporary Internet Files-Configuration\
Slide the pointer to the desidered folder capacity... one or two MB
is enough for each session.. (this configuration is redundant as the
last one will keep the folder empty whatever the capacity may be.. but
keeping it low, can help on security and speed).

3) To keep the users from making changes to these configurations:
Start\Run\gpedit.msc\User Configuration\Administrative Templates\
Windows Components\Internet Explorer\Internet Explorer Control Panel\
enable directives; Disable General page and Disable Advanced
Options page..

Hope this helps.

Note: The TIF size, via Internet Options, is a per user setting, not machine wide.
