I have a long manual that I have finally finished correcting in Word 2003.
Now I need to find a decent template that will display the manual in a
book-like manner. Also, once I find said template, how would I go about
transferring the document to the template assuming there is another method
besides copy paste?

Is there a reason not to simply fix the parameters in the existing
file, using Page Layout and Style (Modify)?

You can attach a template to the document (tools > templates and add-ins)
but it will only be of use if your document contains the styles that are
used in the template. Otherwise your editing will further require adding the
styles to the paragraphs as appropriate. If the stylenames match you can
select the option to update the styles and the document will adopt the style
descriptions in the attached template. If you have made extensive use of
manual formatting it could prove a laborious task.
