Apply template to existing document

Amy E.

Is there a way to apply a template I created to an existing document in Word
2007? I have extensive Track Changes in the document and am afraid if I
transfer (copy & paste) the document to the new template that I'll lose the
changes I've already made. Thanks!

For an explanation of how to copy/paste with tracked changes, see
http://blogs.msdn.com/microsoft_office_word/archive/2008/09/05/pasting-tracked-changes.aspx.
The part you're interested in is "Behavior 3" -- if Track Changes is turned
off in both the original and new documents, and the original contains
changes that haven't been accepted or rejected, then the new document should
still have the same changes.

If you still don't trust that, then see
http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/attachtemplate/index.html. The one thing
that isn't in that page is that in Word 2007, the dialog you need is reached
by going to the Developer tab of the ribbon and clicking the Document
Template button. (If you don't see the Developer tab, click Office button >
Word Options > Popular and check the box to display that tab.)
