TEMPLATE OPENING AS DOT INSTEAD OF DOC

I've created a new Template that is saved on my computer network. When I
double-click the file in Windows Explorer it opens the template file for
editing. When I use any other computer on the network, the file opens as a
new document based on the template.

Does anyone know why this is, as I need all templates to open as new
documents when double-clicking on the icon no matter who created them or on
which computer.

Any help appreciated!

The default action for double clicking has been changed. Re-registering Word
/should/ put it back http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ReRegisterWord.htm
If not, you can change the default action for DOT from open to new from
Windows Explorer > Tools > Folder Options > File Types.
