Temp local profile

A friend has been logging on to Win XP pro for a while without trouble.
Now she get an error stating that windows cannot open a locally created
profile and Winxp creates a temp local profile. She has configured her
mail there and downloaded mail to Outloook client . When she logged off
all profile settings disappeared. next time she logged in again same
process. Is there any way to recover the email that had previously
downloade?

Ay ideas?

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll double check but i don't think restore
points were available.

Hi,

Her user profile is corrupt, and is likely not going to be recoverable. She
should login as admin and create a new one for herself, then copy the old
one into it.

How to Copy User Data to a New User Profile

Note that one step not listed in the article is that after creating the
destination profile you must log into it once first to create the necessary
file structure before you do the copy procedure.

I would agree with that except now she has been able to successfully
login and has no problem with her Account. I still want to try to
recover the mail that was lost from one of the temporary profile
attempts.

My gut feeling is that the information is lost and never got stored on
the drive.

Can anyone confirm?
