XP Home: at start up, tcpsvc.exe sucks up 50% of the CPU. I can shut it down
with Task Manager and still use internet. What am I missing? How can I
prevent this?

Do you have ipv6 installed? I've seen similar issues when it is installed.
If so, as a test, try uninstalling:

1. Start -> Run -> type cmd, click OK
2. In the command window, type in ipv6 uninstall and then press enter
3. Restart computer and check whether this issue persists.

Thanks. That worked. I suspected that was the problem but never had the
courage to deal with it. What am I missing by not having ipv6. I use this
computer primarily for image processing, surfing for solutions, retail
purchases, bill paying, communications and music management.
