TCP/IP woes

An intermittent internet connection problem just popped up. I connect to
verizon broadband just fine. But when I go to open a browser, i.e. Internet
Explorer, (sometimes) I get a "Page Cannot Be Displayed" error. But
basically, the Internet connection simply is not finding the TCP/IP.
I know this because when I go to use my AOL browser the connection attempt
gets hung up on "Looking for TCP/IP." Stalls there and does not go on.
Again, the problem is intermittent. If I reboot the computer the internet
connection MIGHT work okay next time.
Verison helpdesk is stymied; it said I "might" need to uninstall and
reinstall my TCP/IP. Wa-a-a-y over my head. But I can follow directions. Can
you help? Thanks.

Next time the intermittent problem arises, I'll give this a try. I'll also
post the result. Thank you.
