Taskbar / Task Manager display problem.

Ok this is a bit odd, I hope someone can help.

I have two user accounts set up on XP sp2. When I switch to the other
account the taskbar does not display - i can access explorer by start +e but
pressing the start button on the keyboard does not dispay the start menu -
it's gone! Also weird is the way the task manager is displayed on the other
user account (it is fine on the one without the taskbar!) when I press ctrl
alt del the taskmanager appers, displaying the active applications, but there
are no tabs so I can't switch to "processes" etc. no "ok" or "cancel"
buttons, it's like the background is missing? In fact the only way to exit is
to key alt f4.

This is driving me nuts - any ideas?
Thanks, Ben.

For your second problem re: task manager, see here:

Task Manager Menu Bar and Tabs Are Not Visible:

For the first problem, see if this helps:

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
Line 117, left side:
Restore Taskbar and Start Menu
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/nodesktop.reg

Save the REG file to your hard disk. Double-click it and answer yes to the import
prompt.
REG files can be viewed in Notepad by right clicking on the file and selecting Edit,
to see what Registry keys they will modify.

Glen, you're a star many thanks - feel a bit stupid about the first one.....

The regedit didn't work but this one did, so many thanks for pointing me in
the right direction.

Thanks again, Ben.

Glad to hear you found the right edit. Since I have not had a need for any of
Kelly's Taskbar fixes, I tend to get them confused as to which is which. Sorry for
the mix-up.
