Taskbar/Startup

I've got this stupid icon on my taskbar that loads at startup. when I wave
over it it says safely remove hardware. I double clicke on it and a window
comes up showing my printer and usb hub devises telling me how to safely
remove them. duh! Does anyone know where this thing came from? How do I get
rid of it?? There's only two things in my startup so it's not in there.

It's part of the system. If you don't want to see it, right-click the
notification area, and select Properties. Under the Notification area
heading, click Customize. Find the Safely Remove Hardware icon and
select Always Hide in the Behavior column. OK and Apply out.
