Taskbar has disappeared

After re-booting my PC, all of the icons for the running programs in the
taskbar to the right of the START button have disappeared. I have tried all
the tips that explain how to slowly run the cursor around the lower edge of
the screen to see if it is hidden but it isn't. If I right click on the
taskbar, it shows that I have the taskbar locked. If I check to show the
Quick Launch toolbar, then all the icons I have in Quick launch show up, but
not the icons for running programs. This is a nightmare since I normally
run multiple programs at once.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Donnie,

Your user account might have been corrupted somehow. You can try creating a
new user account and migrate whatever necessary favourites and shortcuts to
the new user accounter. This is an easy way to solve your probblem.

Try: Start Button/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore. Then opt for
System Restore to: Restore my computer to an earlier time. Click the Next button, then
look for a date in bold font on the calendar for the day before, or as close to, but
BEFORE the problem began. Select that date, and highlight the Restore Point for that date
in the right pane by clicking on it, and finish the System Restore wizard. Hopefully when
the system reboots after the System Restore, the problem will be gone.

I like the answer that t.cruise gave you.Every once in awhile this will
happen to me as well but not all icons only one or two another reboot has
always cured it.
