taskbar change

My taskbar went from being about 1/2 inch high to a full
inch high for no apparent reason. How do I get it back to
a 1/2 inch?

The task bar acts a bit like a window. Hover your mouse
over the top edge of the toolbar. Your mouse should become
a little two-headed arrow figure, which indicates that the
window can be sized. Click and hold down your left mouse
button, dragging your mouse to shrink the toolbar to the
desired original size.

If Syl's suggestion doesnt work try right clicking on the task bar and
seeing if the "lock taskbar" option is selected if it is then turn it off
and follow Syl's directions
