Hi,
i'm working on a spreedsheet to make it easy to calculate square footage.
Is there a formula that will convert decimals to inches.
for example:
If you enter in a cell 6.11 (6 feet 11 inch) to convert to inches 83. The math is 6 * 12 + 11.

I don't want to type 6'11". I would really like to type in decimals and it converts to inches

It might be something easy but i can manage to get it right and didn't find the solution online.

thank you!

You could type not 6' 11" but 6 + 11/12 which equals 6.916666' or 6.92' to two decimal places.
Then multiplying by 12 the result is 83.04". If yo were to do this whether the error is significant is for you to decide.

You could use a formula to do it, but the result would have to be in a different cell. Would that be ok?

=CONVERT(A1,"ft","in")

where A1 is the cell you want to convert from feet to inches.
