is there anyway to just click on a taskbar button and
have the application open? do we have to sit through the
flashing orange and whatnot? i can't even right-click my
taskbar buttons to get them to open. i've tried tweak UI
but it didn't help. it's just such a hassle to have to
click on a button 3+ times to get it to open! why!?

Hello,

I'm not sure what you mean by the 'flashing orange and
whatnot'. If you are just talking about clicking on
a 'quick launch' button on your task bar (usually the
buttons beside the "start" button), you shouldn't have to
click on them 3 times. Perhaps your computer is taking a
while to open the program. Usually for me there is a
breif delay between clicking on the program's button and
when the program opens.

I'm not sure what the rest of your post is actually
getting at. You must be a little more articulate when you
post your question. Good questions get good answers.
Maybe just post back to this thread with a few more
details.

Thanks

Please repost with a better description of what you are doing. Are you
talking about minimizing programs you've already opened and then
clicking them on the taskbar and it doesn't maximize right away? Or are
you talking about shortcuts on the Quick Launch bar that don't seem to
work? All programs or just some?

Well, for whatever reason, the problem sorted itself out
when I re-booted my computer this morning.

I was actually talking about the taskbar buttons and not
the quick launch buttons. When I had more than one
application open, and tried to switch between the two
using the buttons on the taskbar, nothing would happen at
all except that the taskbar buttons would turn orange and
start flashing. Then, I'd click on them again, and the
application would (apparently) minimize, and I'd realize
that it had maximized but just _behind_ the first
application instead of on top of it. So then I'd click it
again, and it would just simply turn orange and not do
anything at all. On top of that, nothing would happen
when I right-clicked on the buttons. No pop-up menu,
nothing. So I couldn't maximize any applications that way
either. It was really frustrating.

I talked to our computer guy, who couldn't sort it out
but did say that he'd seen that happen once before.

I wasn't more specific originally, thinking this was a
common, recognizable problem. But obviously, my computer
was just playing its own private little trick on me.

Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback, Diana and glad you have it sorted. Others have had
this issue as well.
