If I do a Ctrl-alt-del (task manager comes up)> Processes. When I click on a
process and then end process.

Unable to End Process, This operation could not be completed, access denied.

I understand there are some processes I can not shut down

Hi

Which Process(es) are you trying to shut down? Shutting down some of them
may have an adverse effect on your system.

I am responding to your post because it wouldn't let me post my own question.
I have xp home, how can i manage which programs automatically start running
on startup or logon? in otherwords, I have messengers, morpheus music,
weatherbug, wtc, and I would like to not have them all start up when i log
onto my computer, can i change this? my email is (e-mail address removed).
Thanks

Mike there are a number of things you can do.

First check each of the programs to see if they have something like
Launch/run on startup. If so all you may need to do uncheck that option.

Failing that, check start>all programs > startup

you can also do start > run "type" msconfig, click "startup" tab. Then
uncheck the ones you dont want loaded. becareful with this as you could
prevent important things from loading.

Hope this helps...
