Task Manager will not work

The task manager will not start by doing Ctrl/Alt/Delete, nor will it run
from right-clicking on the tool bar and selecting it. It will not start from
the "Run" by entering either taskman.exe or taskmgr.exe - the files seem to
be completely missing.

The taskmgr.exe should be in c:\windows\system32

You don't see any kind of error message... like it has been disabled
maybe?

There is a lot of this going around and malware is the suspect.

Start here and please report back.

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these three free
malware detection programs:

Malwarebytes (MBAM): http://malwarebytes.org/
SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/
AVG (AVG): http://free.avg.com/
