Am using WinXP-pro. My defrag on one PC here ends up with a message saying
"some files could not be defragmented."

In old Windows versions...it seemed like you could shut down all but
Explorer and SysTray, then defrag was more thorough. I'd like to try that
in WinXP and see if it gets the 1-2 files that won't defrag on this newer
PC.

In WinXP, when I do alt-cntl-delete and click Processes tab...what would be
the only few things that I need to leave running to still be able to defrag?

Thanks,
George

For the best defrag experience, boot into Safe Mode
and run defrag.
