Windows XP Task manager disappeared

Hi

I'm using Windows XP
AVG anti virus and my Task manager has disappeared
I have tried using ctrl+alt+delete
but it comes up that the admin has dis activated the task manager. I'm the admin so I haven't I have tried using system restore programmes to go back a couple of weeks but to no avail. Where do I re activate it ?
There is no task manager in the task bar in the lower left of the screen so any help would be welcome. I have installed no new programmes and have tried re booting but it remains.

Sounds like it could be the conficker virus mate, had something similar recently....is your AVG upto date? It can be pretty crappy so may not have detected a threat, get yourself over to symantec website and download a tool called FixDwndp.exe which will search your pc for all variants of Conficker and remove as needed, then you need to make sure your pc is patched upto date and that your AV is uptodate. see how it goes.
