Task 'Hotmail: Folder Inbox Synchronizing headers ' reported error

Wanted to use Outlook 2002 to access my hotmail,

So I added an email account in outlook 2002, chose 'http mail', selected
hotmail.

When I clicked send/receive, I see this message:

Task 'Hotmail: Folder Inbox Synchronizing headers ' reported error 0x800CCCF4

I clicked 'detect and repair' outlook a few times but to no avail.

I went to internet options in explorer and added www.hotmail.com as 'Allow'
under the privacy settings as well. No avail too.

Anyone can help?

Access to Hotmail through e-mail software such as Outlook or Outlook Express
now involves a monthly subscription. Hotmail can still of course be read
through the WebMail interface at www.HotMail.Com

This is really confusing, i have 2 hotmail account , i can access the first
one without any problems, but the second one which i created couple of days
back could not be accessed from outlook, get same error "Task 'Hotmail:
Folder Inbox Synchronizing headers ' reported error 0x800CCCF4 "

That's due to the fact that any NEW accounts that have been set up recently
need to be upgraded to a paid subscription but many older accounts still
have not had external access (via an e-mail client) shut off yet. Microsoft
is slowly transitioning all accounts over.

The reason I use outlook to access hotmail account is to take backup of my
hotmail emails.

David – is there any way to backup hotmail emails without using outlook

Myself I am not a Hotmail user so I don't know if there is an EXPORT
facility on the website at www.Hotmail.com. When I get off duty this
evening I will take a look and report back.

OK, I now have TWO PAID hotmail (upgraded from older accounts) and one or the
other still has the following problem.

Task 'mymailacct: Folder:Inbox Synchronizing headers.' reported error
(0x800CCCF4) : 'An unknown error has occurred. Please save any existing work
and restart the program.'

restarting maybe 10 times sometimes makes it work for a short period.

One thing I found out only through searching the Knowedge Base and then
sending e-mail to Microsoft is that access to Hotmail through Outlook Express
has never been a truly supported feature. The access you get if you pay to
upgrade your account includes the ability to gain POP3 access to your e-mail,
which is the approach that both Outlook and Outlook Express provide the
strongest support for.
