Task bar and start menu are hidden or gone.

I was advised to reinstall windows xp home due to some previous problems and
reinstall went fine except that I can't see or find the task bar and start
menu. Is there anyway to fix this so that I ahve a task bar and start menu?
are they hidden somewhere?

press the win key... after it popups check its setting by right clicking it
