Takes a long time to load desktop after login

When i get to the Welcome screen on windows XP, i enter
my password and hit login. it takes forever for it to
load up my desktop. anyone have any idea why?

try defrag, checking services that load especially spyware, then you can
install something called bootvis. Bootvis speeds up the boot time sometimes
dramatically.

Check you Event Viewer (Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer) for clues.
