System Tools - Back Up Wizard

Don't know if this is the right group to post this question, but here goes
anyway.....
(using Windows XP Pro)
I have scheduled backups to my 80 gig Iomega external hard drive of my My
Documents folder (1.36 gig), Favorites (1.2 meg), Desktop (150 meg) and
Cookies (?). However, when the backup runs it generates an error that says:
"You have run out of space or the backup file .bkf is too large for this
disk. If this disk is formatted with FAT32, the maximum possible size for
the backup file is lmited to 4 GB. Backup operation will stop."

Since the files/folders I'm backing up don't total anywhere near 4 gig, and
I have 60 gig of available memory on the drive, I don't understand why the
backup utility isn't working.

The log entry for the failed backup reads:

Log Report:

Active backup destination: File

Media name: "Daily Backup.bkf created 1/26/2008 at 4:32 PM"

How much free space is there on the C: drive.
It might be having trouble doing the shadow copy.

What happens if you just convert or format the external drive NTFS?

Not so sure I want to reformat the external drive. I also do manual backups
to it and I'm not sure how that would affect my ability to save manually
backed-up files and restore them if gawd forbid I have a hard drive crash.

Is the drive used almost exclusively by machines that can read/write NTFS
(Windows 200/XP/2003/Vista/etc?)

Then there is no issue.

Convert it (open a command prompt and type: convert /?) to NTFS and see if
that relieves the stress. ;-)

Thanks.
