system restore problems

I'm trying to resolve a problem I've had since a failed
download of QuickTime. Even after uninstalling QuickTime
and subsequently successfully downloading it, my computer
boots very slow. The desktop comes up right away as
usual, but I can't open anything for awhile after that as
it seems to be loading up slowly, sort of like it is
looking for something. I tried to do a system restore to
restore it back two weeks. I tried multiple dates from
two weeks ago; it would go through the process, reboot,
and then tell me that the system couldn't be restored to
that point. Can anyone tell me why it won't restore, and
what can I do from here.

If you are running ME there was a problem with system restore. Mine would not work just like what you are saying.
