System Restore Failure

Sometimes I Use System restore to recover from unwanted application
instailations.
It will only restore to recent restore points like up to a week ago.
Anything other points will not recover when i select it. it will tell me the
install failed and tell me to select an other one.

Windows XP Media Edition 2005 (SP2)
System restore function is always on.

Plz reply soon.

Why do you need to use System Restore. Tell
us as there may be another way to resolve your
problem.

Did you remove the application before restoring the system?

Would please post any event logs that may have been created by the System
Restore process using the link below?
