system restore freezes

The other night I allowed Norton live updates to install.
After restarting the computer, the browser, IE would not load.
When I disabled Norton, the browser loaded with no problem.
But I dont want to operate with Norton disabled.
Additionally, my Macromedia applications began behaving similarly.
I tried System Restore to a point two days prior to the problems starting
but after hanging for more than ten minutes, the message System Restore is
not responding comes up. I've tried this several times to no avail.
The computer wont even shut down until some time has passed.

You might try Symantec's Live Chat support option

*My own personal recommendation is to drop Norton products for
a vendor that doesn't have as many issues with simply using & maintaining
itself.

Remove nortons. Install a free anti-virus.

Norton-WHAT? Firewall? Check Application settings.
