system restore failure

S

Sarah Tiedemann

Hi, I have (2) issues;-

1) my d drive (dvd) will not allow me to play games or music, it just shuts the computer straight down.

After trying everything from, virus scans, to uninstalling drivers, etc, with no change i opted to do a system restore

2) system restore will not function. error msg is, system restore incomplete no changes have been made to your computer

I am running XP home + Serv 2, just upgraded IE - 7, and updated AVG to 7.5 (it will no longer recognise shutdowns after upgrades) have checked my memory everything looks fine.

Anyone with any helpful suggestions...it will be appreciated. My computer is my game life!

Is there any error codes in the Event Viwer realting to the computer
shutting down? You can find the Event Viewer here:

Control Panel (Classic View) > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer

Your system restore point are probably corrupt. You will need to flush out
the system restore points, unfortunaltely you will lose all restore points.
To flush System Restore:

Control Panel (Classic View) > System Properties > System Restore tab >
check "Turn off System Restore on all drives" > Apply > Restart Computer.

Now go back and "Turn off System Restore on all drives"
